Writing for the Seasons
The first Writing Our Lives Class of 2023: A generative writing class on the first day of spring
The Writing for the Seasons Series came to me last year after my nephew was murdered. Justin Andrew was brother’s only son and very much my first child. His loss was devastating.
After months of quiet mourning, I needed to remember hope and love. I needed to remember that I could begin again.
It is nature that has always brought me back to life, starting when I was a little kid exploring our backyard and the junkyard next door. It was hiking Inwood Hill Park, the only natural forest on Manhattan Island, that saved me after my brother died in 2013. (I’m working on an essay on this.)
I meditated and prayed on it, and Writing for the Seasons was born.
I’m bringing back the two-hour, online classes this year starting the first day of spring and continuing on the first day of the seasons thereafter, summer, fall & winter. Like last year, the classes are generative & themed.
Dates:
March 20th @ 7pm ET. Vernal Equinox Theme: New Beginnings
June 21st @ 7pm. Summer Solstice Theme: The Great Outdoors
September 23rd @ 12pm, Autumnal Equinox Theme: Harvest
December 21st @ 7pm ET. Winter Solstice Theme: Release
The classes will be held on Zoom. Tuition is $36 per class.
