When my mother died in June 2023, we hadn’t spoken in 364 days. I wish I could say this was unusual for us. It wasn’t. This wasn’t even the longest we’d gone without speaking…
On April 16th, ma would have turned 71. She died at a young 69.
To say Mother’s Day is complicated for me is an understatement. But, if I’ve learned anything on this journey, it’s that I’m not the only one. It was this hunger for community, healing and understanding that led me to create Writing the Mother Wound back in 2016.
Are you like me? Do you avoid the greeting card aisle like the plague? Do the balloons, flowers and pastel suits trigger memories?
Do you want to learn more about the mother wound, how it manifests, and how writers have penned stories and poems about theirs? Do you want to be with people who understand this wound & want to write about it, like you? Are you ready to explore your mother wound in storytelling?
I created WTMW for people like us, and for the past few years I’ve been offering a one day class before Mother’s Day, because I’ve needed it & maybe you do too.
When: May 3rd, 12-3pm ET
Where: Online via Zoom
How much: Tuition is $100. I have a few need-based, partial scholarships available.
For more info and to register: email writingourlivesworkshop@gmail.com.
Want to read more about how and why I started the Writing the Mother Wound Movement? I wrote about the journey here.
Please do help me spread the word. Many thanks and much love!
